a Home for Widows and Orphans
One of our partners is caring for both widows and orphans in a very creative way. They have 10 homes with 8 orphans in each home, and each home is led by 2 widows who live with the children. They provide maternal love and Christian guidance, which creates a warm and nurturing atmosphere, all essential elements needed to prepare the children for a fruitful and successful future as an adult.
They have a number of income generating programs that are propelling the ministry to become self sustained. They have a bakery that provides food for the orphans and widows, but also a shop that sells bread to the town. They also have a poultry farm that provides income through the sale of their chickens, and a bicycle repair and refurbishing shop, with sales of new bikes to the community. Their latest initiative is a private school that is open to the neighboring children which provides income through tuition.
