1. God manifests Himself to us as the Father of all creation, as the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit who leads, guides, and comforts us.
2. Man was created in the image of God, perfect and sinless, until he yielded to temptation and sinned against God. Through this disobedience, Adam, the first man, became separated from God, and thus brought judgment upon himself and all mankind.
3. Because of our sin, we are destined to an eternity without hope and without God. To save us from eternal damnation, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to live as an example to us and to die as a sacrifice to restore us back to a right relationship with God.
4. All who put their faith in Jesus Christ's sacrifice will have fellowship with God and eternal life in Heaven, as stated in Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast".
We have been saved to live a life pleasing to God and to serve fellow mankind, as stated in Ephesians 2:10: "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Our works are done to share and reflect His abundant love to us.
5. The Bible is the revealed Word of God, inspired and inerrant in its original form, and our only and final authority for faith and practice.
6. God has called us to proclaim the Gospel message found in the Bible and to disciple believers to follow Christ's example as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20a: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you...". We proclaim His message in word and deed. In Christ's strength, we will offer His hope to a hurting world.
7. We recognize that the church is the body of Christ, through which the great commission is fulfilled. Every believer should be accountable to a local body of believers, and those commissioned and sent out are under the authority of the local church. Hope Universal assists the church to fulfill its mandate and is not a replacement of the local church.
8. As an organization whose mandate is to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of mankind, we believe it would be contradictory to become politically involved in public affairs, which may lead to civil strife and war. Therefore, Hope Universal staff members, paid or volunteer, will not be allowed to engage in politically sensitive issues that may become a threat to community peace or that may be harmful to life or property.
